Last semester I took a counseling class. I had a pretty decent professor, she seemed to know what she was talking about. But after some "counseling" advice she gave me, I really had to rethink taking that class and eventually just dropped it.
Not that I'm saying this class isn't useful, it is, but for students with more "traditional" careers in mind.
One of our very first essay assignments was to write about our dream career and how we plan to make that dream a reality. I of course wrote about how I wanted to be a pastry chef, and eventually open my own bakery. I gave her my general plan as to how I would go about that (i.e. What I planned to major in...etc..etc).
My friend who was also taking that class, got hers back with some advice on it, like what classes she should take, schools she should look into, words of encouragement, all that jazz.
But when I got my paper back all It said was "You should try and get on one of those cooking shows."
That's it.
Seriously? What kind of advice is that?
